Village Moves to Yellow Condition for Outdoor Water Usage

Posted on September 22, 2023 at 4:29 PM by Nicole Collingbourne

The Village of Cary is currently in the Yellow Condition with regards to outdoor water usage.

In the Yellow Condition, the watering of lawns with sprinklers or automated irrigation systems is only permitting on an even/odd schedule during certain hours to help conserve water.

  • Properties with even addresses are permitted to water in the morning from 12:00AM to 9:00AM and/or the evening from 6:00PM to midnight on their respective even-numbered days.
  • Properties with odd addresses are permitted to water in the morning from 12:00AM to 9:00AM and/or the evening from 6:00PM to midnight on their respective odd-numbered days

Hand watering and normal household uses of water are unaffected by this condition.

This shift to the Yellow Condition is due to the current severe drought condition in the area as well as the ongoing water tower rehabilitation and painting project in the Village.

If you have any questions, please contact the Public Works Department at CaryPW@caryillinois.com.

Even/Odd Days:

  • Even: Properties with even numbered addresses (ex. 454 Cary Woods Circle) can irrigate/sprinkle lawns on even numbered calendar days (ex. June 10)
  • Odd: Properties with odd numbered addresses (ex. 755 Georgetown Drive) can irrigate/sprinkle lawns on odd numbered calendar days (ex. June 11)
