Village moves to "Yellow Condition" of the Outdoor Water Conservation Code

Posted on August 4, 2022 at 4:04 PM by Nicole Collingbourne

With the recent spike in temperatures and abnormally dry weather forecasted for the start of summer, the Cary Public Works Department is taking precautionary steps to protect against potential drought conditions.

Effective immediately, the Village of Cary will be moving to the “Yellow Condition” of its Outdoor Water Conservation Code. The use of lawn sprinklers and irrigation systems connected to the Village of Cary’s public water supply are only permitted between the hours of 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Other outdoor water uses such as hand-watering of gardens and washing personal vehicles will continue to be unrestricted.

Should drought conditions or other factors warrant additional measures to protect our drinking water supply, this condition could change in the future and further limit outdoor water uses.
