Liquor Control Commissioner - Overview

The mayor also serves as the Village's liquor control commissioner, with authority to enforce all laws relating to the subject, and is responsible for overseeing the administration of the Liquor Control Act, 235 ILCS 5; and all Village ordinances and resolutions pertaining to the sale, distribution, and consumption of liquor in the Village. As the Village's liquor control commissioner, the mayor has the authority to examine applicants for liquor licenses to determine their qualifications; to conduct hearings on violations of liquor license regulations; to suspend a liquor license; and to issue or revoke licenses for violations.
