Public Works Department

The Village of Cary's Public Works Department assumes the most comprehensive and diverse range of responsibilities in the Village. The Public Works Department is comprised of two divisions, the Operations & Maintenance Division and the Water & Sanitation Division. Together, they strive to provide fundamental services to the residents of Cary in an efficient, reliable manner.

The Operations & Maintenance division maintains more than 150 miles of streets. The division is responsible for the maintenance of Village streets, sidewalks and curb & gutter; parkway tree planting, tree trimming and restoration; snow and ice control operations; pavement striping and crack sealing; vehicle and equipment maintenance; sanitary sewer and storm sewer operations; street signs and lights; street sweeping; and building maintenance.

The Water & Sanitation Division provides safe, potable drinking water and process wastewater for all Cary residents and businesses. The divison is responsible for potable water sampling; water distribution; hydrant flushing; install, maintain and read water meters; water main break repairs; wastewater collection; and wastewater treatment.
