The Village of Cary's Public Works Department assumes the most comprehensive and diverse range of responsibilities in the Village. The Public Works Department is comprised of two divisions, the Operations & Maintenance Division and the Water & Sanitation Division. Together, they strive to provide fundamental services to the residents of Cary in an efficient, reliable manner. The Operations & Maintenance division maintains more than 150 miles of streets. The division is responsible for the maintenance of Village streets, sidewalks and curb & gutter; parkway tree planting, tree trimming and restoration; snow and ice control operations; pavement striping and crack sealing; vehicle and equipment maintenance; sanitary sewer and storm sewer operations; street signs and lights; street sweeping; and building maintenance. The Water & Sanitation Division provides safe, potable drinking water and process wastewater for all Cary residents and businesses. The divison is responsible for potable water sampling; water distribution; hydrant flushing; install, maintain and read water meters; water main break repairs; wastewater collection; and wastewater treatment.
