North Commuter Lot - Pavement Removal to Be Rescheduled

Posted on June 10, 2022 at 9:21 AM by Tim Bassuener

As part of the ongoing preparations for the pavement resurfacing at the north commuter parking lots in Cary, the replacement of concrete curb was completed this week. The removal of the asphalt pavement was previously anticipated to begin next week but will be rescheduled to a later date.

To minimize the inconvenience to commuters following a recent labor union strike against three of the region’s suppliers of sand, gravel, and crushed stone (which are essential in the production of asphalt), this short pause in the project will help ensure that asphalt can be available immediately following the removal of the old pavement and avoid the need for temporary striping.

A revised schedule for the asphalt removal and paving will be shared as soon as it is available. This project is still anticipated to be completed this summer.

The Metra parking lots south of W. Main Street continue to remain open for use for daily fee parking and permit holders, with free parking on weekends and weekdays after 11:30am for downtown visitors and employees of downtown businesses.
